A Face Only a Mother Could Love

Although it is WAY too soon, I could swear Shelby has started teething. She cried all afternoon, was munching on anything she could shove in her mouth, and drooled all over. Has anyone else has a baby start teething at 2 months? Anyway, her little cries were just too cute not to capture on camera...okay, so they were only cute for about 5 minutes! I tried to get a shot of her bottom lip sticking out, but my camera wasn't fast enough. I'm sure I'll have plenty of opportunities today!

Bumbo the Wonder Chair

Although she can't quite sit up on her own yet, we decided to put Shelby in the Bumbo chair today. I think I am going to LOVE it! She seemed content to be cradled in blue foam rubber while we did chores all around her. Hopefully she will continue to enjoy it so I can get some relief from carrying her around all day.

Shelby had another first this week, swimming in the pool. Bryon and I didn't have the heart to put her completely under just yet. Soon enough she will turn into a little fish! She did enjoy the water, floating on her back and staring at the banana trees.

It finally dawned on me who her hair reminds me of: Albert Einstein! Let's hope she has a similar IQ also.

Yo, Ho! Yo, Ho!

Bryon is really anxious to get Shelby out on the boat, so we decided we would take her out this weekend. I thought it might be a good idea to try her life jacket on before going out to Lake Grapevine. It was hilarious! She was so confused by it all. In the end, I decided she looked a little like Blue Spongebob. Needless to say, we are going to have to wait until she gets a little bigger before we take her to the lake!

Poling Reunion

This past weekend was the annual family reunion with my mom's family. We had 19 people at our house to catch up on old times ("Happy Crappy" per Meredith). The highlight this year was Rock Band and Wii. Needless to say, any relative under 30 did well. The rest of us is another story! Above is a picture of Molly and I after spending some time in the pool. For more details, click here.
This is Shelby with my Aunt Wendy (mom's sister). She and my Uncle Gary raised four great boys, so I had lots of questions on how to duplicate her success. Shelby loved being held all day and didn't hesitate to go to any strangers. She also has a cute new trick where she can scoot across the floor with a little help. She is so strong!

Baby's First Bath!

Hip, Hip, Hooray!! Shelby's cord stump FINALLY fell off yesterday, so she took her first bath this morning. Although she seemed really confused by it all, she was calm the whole time. If she takes after her mom, Shelby will soon fall in love with her daily baths!

With the Pfaff Grandparents

Just a short post...This is Miss Shelby with Norman, Janice, and Bryon. We are still trying to figure out what grandparents' names she will come up with for them!

Shelby's room

Norman took this picture of Shelby's nursery while they were here. I am just so proud of how it all turned out, and Shelby seems to love it. I would like to say I painted the tree on the wall, but it is really just a big sticker from wallwords.com. Late at night while feeding her, I try to come up with silly names for the birds...

Another Red, White, and Blue Outfit

I couldn't resist adding some more patriotic pictures. Shelby loves her country!

Our Little Firecracker!

Happy Fourth of July from our little Firecracker! She has spent most of the day doing what she does best--sleeping and eating. She even made Daddy a nice, full diaper to change. You can't see the bow in her hair very well, but it is there. Mom isn't very good at doing hair, so she will have to learn quickly how to do pony tails and braids!

We are going out on the lake tonight to watch fireworks while Mimi and Jeff keep Shelby. We hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday!

She's a Supermodel!

Shelby's first modeling session went really well. The photographer, Suzi Neely, posted a blog raving about our little girl. Click here to check it out along with a few of the incredible pictures she captured. If you want to view all 50 pictures, shoot me an email, and I'll send you the instructions. They are beautiful!
